I am Jonita. Hard “j”, long “o” and an “ita”. I have been writing since my girlhood, but nothing like what I’ve churned out in the past four years. Somewhere in my grad school years at Purdue (2013-2015), I started telling stories like the ones I had always heard from my late Grandma Louise and my uncles on my mom’s side of the family, and damn near everybody on my dad’s. Storytelling is in my blood but it took me well over 30 years to claim that bloodright.
Well, I’m claiming it here!
On this site, you will find my thoughts, my writings, and my stories culled from the various places I have managed to seed them. Feel free to interact with them, with me even. I’d love to hear what you have to say. (Ain’t that right Outlander stans?
In the end, these are all just stories about me and by me, a mom of six kids, ranging in age from 21 to 2. A wife of trucker/ DC nerd/cinophile. A lover of words, vintage fountain pens, and pop culture. A Black woman who finally found her voice.
